Pomelo Casa
Pomelo Casa is a Spanish decor brand that makes some of the dreamiest ceramics around. Based in Los Angeles, Pomelo Casa’s pieces are all handmade by ceramicists in the highlands of Granada, Spain.
Founded by Francesca de la Fuente and Maria Strada, the line is a way for them to share their heritage and memories of growing up in Spain. The colorful ceramics in their debut collection have been a staple on dinner tables for generations. Today, they are excited to curate stunning artisanal homewares that are now available outside of Europe for the very first time. Each of the ceramics are hand-painted, with slight variations in their patterns — each tell its own charming story.
The artisan behind the brand, Juan, has been making these ceramics for over 40 years. First he makes each terra-cotta bowl by hand on the wheel, then he puts it out to dry in the sunshine. This process varies though, depending on the time of the year and the temperature. Then he puts it in the oven at 960degrees C, after that he varnishes the piece, paints the traditional designs, and puts it back in the oven for another four hours. It’s just him in the workshop making each piece from start to finish, each piece is entirely unique!
