LA Food & Wine Festival // Asian Night Market
A taste of cutting edge Asian cuisine and delicious wines from around the world... yup, we're definitely in our zone. We had such a great time at the Los Angeles Food & Wine's Asian Night Market hosted by Iron Chef Morimoto-- what could be more fun than cruising around sampling wine and thoughtfully prepared bites from some of the best chefs around?! This multi-sensory street food experience brings the flavor of Asian night markets from Taipei or Kuala Lumpur right here to Grand Avenue in Downtown LA!! The market was perfectly situated within a view of the skyline and a magical backdrop of the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Serving up traditional as well as interpretive Asian street grub from both established restaurants and mom-and-pop spots around LA, the event recreates the celebratory chaos and delicious energy of the quintessential Asian Night Market experience with a distinct West Coast flavor. Along with tastings of street food from over 25 participating restaurants and eateries, the festival includes cocktails, sake, shochu, beer and free-flowing wine.
We were so excited to see booths by some of our favorite LA restaurants such as Phorage, Nobu, Hamasaku, and Mr. Chow. A definitely highlight was a sneak peak of Egg Sluts' new ramen with lamb and sous vide egg (they're opening a new Ramen place in LA's Grand Central Market within the next few months!!) Chef Jet Tila also made a statement with his juicy pork belly tacos... we might have gone back for seconds on that one. The desserts certainly didn't disappoint either. Fluff Ice's shaved ice always hits the spot, and this one in particular was lovely because of its lavender flavor! And, Marti Chocolatt impressed with a purple yam chocolate truffle. When it came to the booze, we couldn't stay away from the Miraval rosé--seriously good stuff. And our nifty wine-holders certainly made our food tasting much easier!
The LA Food & Wine weekend is one of the best epicurean events of the year, and we definitely recommend you get yourself there next year. #glowy
