LUNCH: Salad with little gems, quinoa, chopped veggies, feta, lemon juice and olive oil

DINNER: Kitchari with veggies and roasted sweet potatoes

What are your favorite spots/restaurants to eat healthy?

My house! We don’t eat out much, honestly! So long as we stock up at the farmers market on the weekend and get our weekly CSA box from my son’s school, we don’t really have to eat out very much. If we do go out for a healthy meal I love Botanica in Silver Lake, Honey Hi in Echo Park and I love the cedar plank salmon at Pace (although I always get it with the mashed potatoes so not the healthiest!).

What is your favorite indulgence?

Pizza! Beer! Wine! Ice cream! Fresh bread! Cheese! I’m all about the balance and I don’t have any food rules. Good, clean food makes me feel good so that’s what I gravitate towards, most of the time! That said, I made homemade ice cream sandwiches last weekend and just polished off the last of them as soon as I put the boys to bed!

what are your favorite spots to indulge?

I could eat McConnell's ice cream every day.  That's all I wanted to eat while I was pregnant with my second son and its my favorite.  I love Desano Pizza.  I love Jon and Vinny's.  I love Slab for BBQ.  I love Gjusta.  I love bread from the Manufactory.

What would be your last meal on earth?

Cacio e pepe, margarita pizza, and a glass of rose at Eataly in NY with my man.

What is the best dish you cook / your favorite recipe?

The giant crinkled chocolate chip cookies from the NY Times. If you haven't made them, stop reading right now and get baking! I promise they are better than any cookies ever ever ever! I also make a mean matzo ball soup!

Where do you grocery shop?

We get most of our produce from the Hollywood Farmer's Market on Sundays and our son's school has a CSA box we get on Wednesdays. I order a lot of dry goods online from Thrive Market, and I try to buy the rest in bulk at Whole Foods. We have a great Ralphs at the bottom of our hill that has a ton of organic options, so I go there when I can. And I also do Trader Joes (although the plastic packaging makes me crazy). It’s a juggle!

Top 3 items you always have in your kitchen?

1. Good olive oil
2. Rice
3. Dried beans and lentils

What is your fitness regimen? (how often & what you do)

I haven’t quite figured out the how and when for exercise since I had my second son. We just got the Peloton bike which has been great. I don’t get on it as often as I would like but even 20 minutes here or there is good! I also try to go salsa dancing now and again which brings me so much joy! Its a goal of mine to get my routine back!

What is your skincare routine? (Products, facials, etc.)

I use True Botanicals products for my skin. I love the feel and the smell of everything they make. I am really pretty minimal about my routine!

What is your self care routine?

I make sure to talk with my best friend or my mom every day. I journal. I meditate. I exercise when I can. I salsa dance. I play guitar. I swim. I hike. I listen to uplifting and spiritual podcasts when I'm driving. I don't do it everyday but I try to get a little bit in as often as I can!

What are your favorite makeup/natural beauty products?

I love Kosas! The texture is so smooth, the colors are natural and gorgeous, and the packaging is amazing. Its my favorite. I love their blush and their lipsticks.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what 3 products would you take with you?

Paw Paw cream. A tub of coconut oil. Toothpaste.

What professional beauty/health/fitness/spiritual gurus do you swear by?

I don't really follow anyone! I know that for me getting outside in nature is the best therapy!

Top 3 favorite songs?

You Ain't goin' Nowhere - The Byrds version (I walked down the aisle to this song during my wedding)

Sexy Sadie - I even named my dog after it!

Is there a theme here?  Apparently I only listen to my parents' music!

Most-watched movie?

Waiting for Guffman. I am laughing just thinking about it!

Most life-changing book?

Silent Leaders by Jan Birchfield. I met Jan at her retreat center in Taos and am forever changed. I feel like her book speaks right to me! She talks about how important it is to turn inwards to manage stress and anxiety and that a strong internal life is what can help build and nurture successful business leaders. She is nonjudgmental and highly intellectual and also spiritual and speaks from the heart. I also love Pema Chodron's When Things Fall Apart and revisit it often.

Favorite shops/boutiques?

Midland in Culver City and Silver Lake is my favorite shop in LA. Their selection is beautifully curated. I also love Mohawk General Store and Poketo.

Coolest place you've ever visited?

Tepozlan.  Hanalei.  Milos.  Masai Mara.  Luang Prabang.

Favorite hotels?

I'm more of a rental house kind of girl! I love to have a kitchen and some privacy. And now that we usually travel with our kids having a house is a must! But I love love Jashita in Soliman Bay, near Tulum. I loved it so much I came home pregnant 😂

What is the best gift you've ever received?

My children is the obvious answer! Ha! But my husband once surprised me with a lapis and turquoise ring from Jacquie Aiche that took my breath away. And he wrote me the most beautiful song that makes me cry every time he sings it to me. We even sang it together at my parents' 40th anniversary party.

Most profound healing experience you've ever had?

I spent 5 days in Taos with a group of women on the Midland retreat. It was absolutely life-changing. A group of women, some friends some strangers, diving deep into our truth and being so open and vulnerable. I learned through sharing, I learned through listening, I learned just by being in a place dedicated to personal growth. It was pure magic.

Who are your most trusted healers?

David Elliot for breathwork and energy clearing. Jan Birchfield for everything. And my girlfriends and my mother heal me in ways I can’t even quantify.

What is the biggest learning experience you've had to face and what did you take away from it?

I have been in business for 17 years, so dealing with the ups and downs of that has been the hardest and biggest learning experience of my life. It has shown me that I am strong, I am resilient, and when I think I have reached my maximum I always have more. It has taught me to grow, to evolve, and to innovate.

Describe your perfect day.

Waking up and snuggling with my boys, spending the day swimming and playing in our yard, making homemade ice cream, taking a hike, beer and BBQ in the backyard with family and friends, early to bed.

Be confident. Follow your intuition. Work hard. Don't give up. Breathe. Laugh. Give.
