Natural Beauty DIY Workshop // Sweet Laurel x LUX/EROS
Beauty, Eat + Drink, GetGLOWY, Healing, How To Glow, Lifestyle, Recipes

We had the absolute pleasure of co-hosting a day of #NaturalBeautyDIY with the lovely ladies of Sweet Laurel and Lux/Eros in the dreamiest A-frame house in the hills.

A day of beautifying foods and homemade natural beauty products at a house in the Hollywood Hills… doesn’t get more glowy than this!

The afternoon started with Laurel’s demonstrated her delicious and beautifying spiced Pumpkin Bread and luckily she had pre-made several loaves of this guilt-free vegan goodness (and other wholesome treats like her turmeric bread) so we could all enjoy it throughout the workshop. Next up, Desa taught the ladies how to blend essential oils to create custom roll-on scents. Claire taught the group how to make one of our personal favorite household items, sage Smudge Sticks– (everyone should have sage to burn in their home to cleanse the energy!) These smudge sticks though were especially glowy, adorned with chamomile, feathers, dried rose, and lavender. She also taught the group how to put together homemade Bath Soaks (epsom salts, pink salt, rose, coconut powder), which make as a lovely gift as well.

When our turn was up, it was all about natural beauty (and super easy) DIY’s: Lavender Sugar Body Scrub & Rose Honey Face Mask– two multi-functional staple items that we always have in the house! ((Find the recipes + benefits below))

Desa provided us with her absolutely gorgeous #LuxLodge in the Hollywood Hills as our magical venue. We wanted to move right in to this Glow Dojo and never leave. Nestled in the canyons and adorned with all of Desa’s dreamy handmade ceramics (her art studio is located under the house!), Lux Eros couldn’t have been a more perfect place to get our creative juices flowing.

We were so happy to have the #glowboys of Bent Penny Coffee serving up their mouthwatering coldbrew coffee. They made us some next-level lattes with Renew Juicery’s Almond/ Pumpkin Mylk, the perfect creamy Fall treat to wash down Sweet Laurel’s gorgeous tarts and pumpkin bread with vegan caramel. Mmmmm!!

As if this event wasn’t amazing enough, the gift bags were off the charts :) Thanks to Dirty Lemon (detox water), natural hand cream and lip conditioner from Beauty Counter, RGB nail polish, manis from Olive and June, Bent Penny Coffee beans, and all of the beautiful items that our guests made, everyone went home with tons of GLOW .

We’re grateful to everyone who came and can’t wait for the next workshop!

LAVENDER-BROWN SUGAR BODY SCRUB:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup coarse brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup almond oil
  • 8 drops lavender essential oil

DIRECTIONS:

Mix your sugar and oil. You want the consistency to remain grainy, not soupy. Add in the lavender essential oil, which will give the scrub an incredible aroma. Place the mixture into jar, and leave the jar in your shower or by your sink.

BENEFITS:

This scrub is a wonderful exfoliant that you should use in the shower or leave by your sink to cleanse and scuff off dead skin, add moisture and vibrancy, and soothe the skin. The brown sugar acts as a corse exfoliant agent, but slowly melts away in the shower while scrubbing, which adds a nice smooth texture to your skin. The almond oil is an incredibly nourishing and hydrating oil that get sealed into your skin after exfoliation. The lavender essential oil acts as a calming and soothing agent on your skin— it’s a detoxifying oil, that is highly anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, and removes redness. Not to mention, it will make your bath/shower experience incredibly lovely and intoxicatingly filled with lavender scent!

ROSE-HONEY FACE MASK:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 tablespoons raw honey
  • 1/2 tsp rose essence / oil
  • 1 tsp crushed rose petals

DIRECTIONS:

Stir the rose and honey together, along with crushed rose petals. Place into a jar for storage. Use a small amount to apply over your face. Leave it on for about 10-20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.

BENEFITS:

Honey is an antibacterial powerhouse, which helps fight acne and blemishes. Honey soaks ups impurities from the pores of the skin, leaving your skin clear and clean. It’s incredibly moisturizing, leaving you radiant, soft and supple. Honey is also a natural remedy to prevent wrinkles, as it slows down the aging process. Rose soothes inflammation and calms your skin, perfect for those with sensitive, irritated skin. Rose is a mood enhancer as well, bringing glow and light to your face. It is also an antiviral agent, removing bacteria.
