Mandy Moore
Profiles

We had the pleasure of grubbing it up with the beautiful, and absolutely glowing, Mandy Moore. Not only is Mandy unbelievably stunning, this #glowgirl’s energy is as good as it gets. She radiates kindness from every pore and we’re so excited to share her spark with you.

We were first got to know Mandy Moore and her good vibes at our Montecito Glow Day in celebration of her birthday. It obviously doesn’t take much time to pick up on Mandy’s graceful beauty, but she also emanates a thoughtful and passionate glow that is really unique and refreshing to be around.

For our recent hang, we met Mandy at The Trails Cafe, one of her favorite neighborhood spots. We all geeked out on the yummy avocado sandwich, lavender scones, rhubarb pie and other delicious treats.

While catching up about the new album Mandy’s recording– a labor of love she’s super passionate about–we were caught off guard by this insanely cute boy, Emmett, at the end of our table. Emmett won our hearts with his long golden locks and black rocker t-shirt. When we say this kid had moves, we are not messing around–his flawless game had us totally smitten. We had to snap some shots with the stunner–with his dad’s approval, of course–and we even got him to model some of our GLOWnola.

HOW THEY GLOW QUESTIONNAIRE

NAME: Mandy Moore

NICKNAME: My Husband calls me Bug. Some friends call me Mand or just M. Technically Mandy is my nickname, as my given name is Amanda.

WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? Orlando, Florida

WHEN YOU’RE EATING HEALTHY, WHAT IS A TYPICAL…

BREAKFAST: Yogurt, fresh berries, chia seeds and a touch of honey or a smoothie with greens, coconut water, berries and flax/chia seeds

LUNCH: Mixed green salad with grilled fish, avocado, tomato, onion, carrots, cucumbers and whatever other veggies we have lying around

DINNER: Salmon, sweet potato, sautéed kale or spinach

SNACK: Marcona almonds, apple, hummus, carrots, celery, hard boiled eggs, string cheese

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE SPOTS TO EAT HEALTHY? I feel like I can find healthy eats at most places but I do love the brown rice bowls at Sqirl, The Juice in Atwater for a green smoothie and Sugarfish for simple, clean sushi.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE INDULGENCE? Chocolate chip cookies, pizza, french fries, tacos…. I don’t skimp on indulgences. :)

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE RESTAURANTS/PLACES TO INDULGE? Sushi Park, Hinoki and the Bird, Connie and Ted’s, The Hart and the Hunter…Oh and the coffee and pastries from Proof Bakery in Atwater are my absolute favorite.

WHAT WOULD BE YOUR LAST MEAL ON EARTH? It depends on the day but either Sushi or decedent Mexican food—guacamole and tacos!!

WHERE DO YOU GROCERY SHOP IN LA? I do a bulk of grocery shopping at Whole Foods and the Farmers Market. I recently signed up for Summerland’s produce and fruit boxes (after being introduced by the Glow girls) and it’s my new obsession!

WHAT IS YOUR FITNESS REGIMEN? I’ve started boxing recently and LOVE it but I also enjoy hiking in Griffith Park with my pups or the occasional Soul-Cycle class.

WHAT IS YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE? I see Frankie Paige for facials and I swear by her products and her handiwork. I also like Beautycounter’s Countertime line.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE NATURAL BEAUTY PRODUCTS? I love Josie Maran, RMS, and Bite Beauty. For my body I use Coconut Oil and Weleda Skin Food.

IF YOU WERE STRANDED ON A DESERT ISLAND, WHAT 3 THINGS PRODUCTS YOU TAKE WITH YOU?

1. Coconut Oil

2. Sunscreen

3. Mouthwash

WHAT PROFESSIONAL BEAUTY/FITNESS GURUS DO YOU SWEAR BY? I don’t really swear by anything per se, things come and go in waves for me. Life gets busy and I just try to listen to my body. Having said that, I’m always open to new experiences and practices. Acupuncture’s probably the most consistent thread in my life.

TOP 3 FAVORITE SONGS?
It’s too difficult to distill it down to 3 songs but I’d say that I loving anything by:

1. Ryan Adams (naturally)

2. Joni Mitchell

3. Paul McCartney

WHAT IS THE BEST GIFT YOU’VE EVER RECIEVED? Beyond the symbolic and sentimental value I hold for my engagement ring and wedding band, the best gift by far, are our 6 rescue animals that somehow found us. They’ve brought a sense peace and unconditional love to life that I didn’t know was possible.

DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY. Waking early with all of the animals and my hubby to sunshine and coffee, preferably somewhere by the water, and then a day of eating fresh, delicious food, making music, listening to music, swimming, hiking, laughing, meeting up with friends and generally being equal parts goofy and cozy.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST VALUABLE BEAUTY TIP/SECRET? Everything in moderation including moderation. Nothing can replace the basic principle of treating yourself kindly. Drink water, get quality sleep and wear sunscreen.

WHAT MAKES YOU GLOW? I think I glow when I’m taking care of myself, when I’m loved and loving others, creating, and trying my best to be present in all aspects of life.

  1. Great interview! I am in love with Mandy’s blouse – so dreamy and chic. Could you please tell me who makes it? Much appreciated!

  2. I just recently (!) watched “A Walk to Remember” and was utterly entranced by Mandy Moore’s performance. It was such an engaging, moving performance that I cannot think of any other that surpassed it — and I have watched a lot of movies over the years. It seemed to me that the young Miss Moore deserved an Academy Award for her performance, unless it was simply her own personality shining through in her performance. If it was the latter, then she has a gift far more valuable than any award.

Wanting to know a bit more, I searched the Internet a bit and found this article via Ms. Moore’s tweet about it. This was a very nice article. I can see now that, while she does have considerable acting ability, she truly does have that positive energy that was so evident in that movie.

It speaks volumes not only about Ms. Moore’s personality and some of those things that make her glow, but of you, Jessie and Tara, in how you present yourselves and your guest. Well done!
