Kristie Streicher

Girl crush is an understatement.  Kristie Streicher is a striking beauty who epitomizes GLOW.  She's got it all when it comes to brows, beauty, and lifestyle.

A stroke of fate occurred when Refinery29 asked Jessie to be an eyebrow "model" for a feature they were doing. It was this serendipitous moment when the beautiful Kristie Streicher was introduced into our world. Eyebrow guru, make-up artist, trained yogi and the hottest homemaker you'll ever encounter-- this chick has it all.  Kristie works her magic out of the Kristie Streicher Beauty Bar, located in the Warren Tricomi salon in West Hollywood. Here she crafts her signature "Feathered Brow," which means a softer, thicker and much more natural shape. With locations in both New York and West Hollywood, Kristie has figured out how to live the bicoastal dream. We strongly encourage you to step into the Kristie Streicher Beauty Bar for anything from a brow touch-up, brow-tint, eyelash-tint, or even for make-up application.  For those with over-plucked brows, you will be thrilled to discover Kristie's "Brow Rehab," which transforms thin brows into their fullest potential.  Kristie also does house calls and private events for some very lucky customers. After years of using her homemade skincare products on her clients, she finally decided to bottle them up to sell. We're so glad she did because her beautiful creations, Aforé and Après, have become a staple in our routine.

We were lucky enough to be invited into Kristie's beautiful Bel-Air home set amongst the mountains and trees. Upon entering, Kristie greeted us with a gorgeous cheese board and refreshing Sun Tea, which this beauty had been brewing for us in the backyard. Her kitchen is a dream, stocked with every organic product imaginable to feed her passion for healthy cooking. We were delighted to see she had laid out all the ingredients  for us to construct super fresh, vegan Vietnamese Summer Rolls, which were wildly delicious and actually easy to make.

Kristie's passion for natural health extends far beyond eyebrows and cosmetics. As a certified yoga teacher, she makes time for her own yoga practice at home everyday. She is also a big swimmer, often foregoing washing her hair in the morning to let the saltwater from her morning swim create some stunning waves. From her natural and perfectly groomed brows and radiant smile, down to her adorable Minx-covered toes, Kristie Streicher epitomizes GLOW.

HOW THEY GLOW QUESTIONNAIRE

NAME: Kristie Streicher

NICKNAME: Skip. My late father gave it to me when I was a kid- I was really light on my feet and skipped everywhere instead of walked.

WHERE DID YOU GROW UP: Grass Valley, CA. Tahoe was our playground in the winter. Skiing and Snowboarding was a requisite and we started young. The summer was about lakes and rivers. The best river ever is its natural watermark, the South Fork of the Yuba.

WHEN YOU ARE EATING HEALTHY, WHAT IS A TYPICAL…

BREAKFAST: Oatmeal w/ Blueberries

LUNCH: A salad of some sort. I like to go to either Whole Foods or Gelson's and put an 'anything goes' salad together and use the spicy hummus as dressing.

DINNER: A giant plate of veggies, or some sort of fish or occasionally a lean meat. Mostly just vegetables though.

SNACK: Nuts, fruit, fresh juice, homemade gluten-free crackers, Greek yogurt. Sometimes I like to eat candy in the middle of the day- it makes me happy and feel like a kid again.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE SPOTS/RESTAURANTS TO EAT HEALTHY? Honestly, my kitchen- we eat mostly Farmer's Market vegetables and organic produce when we can. I cook with a lot of herbs, so I grow my own. Once in a while we eat out- maybe sushi or something. N/Naka is nice.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE INDULGENCE?

To Eat: I just got an ice cream machine so I've been making a lot of homemade vegan ice cream with either almonds, hazelnut or coconut. Ice cream cakes, ice cream sandwiches and just plain old ice cream. Its such a nice base to add ANYTHING to. Next on the menu is pumpkin spice ice cream sweetened with honey and molasses.

To Do: I do like taking myself to the Korean Spas here in LA. I like to spend time in the dry and wet saunas then take a cold plunge; its called Thermotherapy and I swear by it. I’m convinced its what healed my knee after I fractured a bone and tore a ligament in it a year and a half ago. Thermotherapy promotes blood circulation, speeds up metabolism, and boosts immune system.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE SPOTS/RESTAURANTS TO INDULGE? I LOVE Mexican food, so any GOOD Mexican restaurant is an indulgence for me. Gardens of Taxco is where my glutinous side comes out. This place has been around since the early 70's and the decor hasn't changed. Super cozy, family owned oldie but goody :) Another favorite is Bestia, its a rather new Italian spot in downtown LA and boasts a great menu with delicious cocktails. My favorite dish: Agnolotti alla Vaccinara- cacao pasta (yes cacao as in chocolate) with braised oxtail. The roasted veggie plate is next level.

WHAT WOULD BE YOUR LAST MEAL ON EARTH? Anderson's Split Pea Soup- from the actual restaurant. I grew up eating this stuff on every road trip my parents ever took us on. Its hearty, delicious, nutritious comfort food that's nostalgic.  No milk, butter or dairy- just whirled veggies and peas.

WHAT IS THE BEST DISH YOU COOK/ YOUR FAVORITE RECIPE? Its a layered 'everything but the kitchen sink" casserole I've been making for years. Its a great way to use up any roasted veggies we have laying around. I make it different every time, switching between red and green sauce (homemade) and refried or whole black beans (homemade), brown rice, corn tortillas, vegan cheese, and black olives baked to perfection then topped with green onions and fresh avocado. I love to make fresh salsa as well: Habenero, Tomatillo, Chipotle Crema, and my simple Roasted Tomato salsa.

WHERE DO YOU GROCERY SHOP IN LA? Farmers Market (Palisades, Bel Air or West Hollywood), Trader Joe's, Whole Foods or Santa Monica Food Co-op.

WHAT IS YOUR FITNESS REGIME? (HOW OFTEN & WHAT DO YOU GO) I try to do something active every day, it usually ends up 3-5 days a week :) Its a combination of Pilates, Yoga, Dancing, Running, Biking, Swimming, Hiking, and elliptical training at the gym. My boyfriend is really great to work out with- he's in great shape and was a trainer back in the day so he knows how to push the limits. I find the more you mix it up and keep it fun, you forget its "working out".

WHAT IS YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE? (PRODUCTS, FACIALS, ETC.) I get a treatment with Sonya Dakar every 3-4 weeks and use her products. They are great and really work, gently but effectively. I also like them because they smell of botanicals and essential oils- I am a firm believer if it doesn't smell good it doesn't work good:)

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE NATURAL MAKEUP/ BEAUTY PRODUCTS? Ilia Cosmetics, True Natural Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30, Intelligent Nutrients Volumizing Spray, RMS Beauty, Inventive Organics

IF YOU WERE STRANDED ON A DESERT ISLAND, WHAT 3 PRODUCTS WOULD YOU TAKE WITH YOU?

1. True Natural Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30

2. La Mer Lip Balm

3. A machete to live off the land. Oh, and my Mary Kay Brow Gel :)

WHAT PROFESSIONAL BEAUTY/FITNESS/HEALTH GURUS DO YOU SWEAR BY? My parents mostly. I was fortunate enough to grow up with extremely active, mind and body health conscious parents who had a love for the outdoors and took us camping in the wild every chance they had. Its amazing what your natural instincts will do for you and learning to trust them is important. My father was a runner and mom was really into health and fitness and also taught aerobics. She was a real D.I.Y'er and made her own mineral make up and did all of her own waxing. I still snowboard or Cross Country ski with my mom every Christmas.

TOP 3 FAVORITE SONGS? Oh man that's a hard one.

1. I love Neil Young, because it reminds me of my dad

2. I have a major thing for Little Dragon

3. I really LOVE all music

MOST LIFE-CHANGING BOOK? All of Shel Silverstein's books

WHAT IS THE BEST GIFT YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED? I once received a beautiful leather bound hard case made by Make Up Forever. It looks like a Doctor’s bag but it opens up and has drawers. I use it as my Mobile Eyebrow Shaping Kit.

DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY. Early morning silent meditation on the beach, 2 hours of space creating- restorative yoga, a fresh fruit breakfast, and then frolicking in the ocean, body surfing and playing in the sand. Then ending with a delicious dinner with my love.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST VALUABLE BEAUTY TIP/SECRET? WHAT MAKES YOU GLOW? Sometimes its as simple as a smile, but I do know that I feel my best and am most radiant when I'm taking care of myself- taking the time to eat right and sleep well. A good lipstick never hurts either :) My color of the moment is Illamasqua lipstick in Over.
